Introduction to the History of the Shanxi-Gansu Border Revolutionary Base Area

Red Zhaojin is more than 40 kilometers northwest of Tongchuan New District in Shaanxi Province, it is located at the border of three counties, namely Tongchuan Yaoxian, Xianyang Xunyi County and Chunhua County, it is next to the ZIiwu Ridge in the north, the south overlooking the Weibei Plateau, it is next to the Xianyu Street in the east, the west is next to the Shan-Gan hinterland, Surrounded by mountains and ravines, it is a unique area for guerrilla warfare activities. In the early 1930s, Liu Zhidan, Xie Zichang, Xi Zhongxun and other proletarian revolutionaries of the old generation threw their heads and spilled their blood here, and in the spring of 1933, they opened up a red armed area of about 2,500 square kilometers, centering on Zhaogin and spanning five counties, namely, Yaoxian, Xunyi, Chunhua, Yijun, and Tongguan, and it became the first mountainous revolutionary base area in the north of China.

Xuejiazhai is located 5 kilometers northeast of Zhaojin Town, known for its majestic and dangerous, is the place where soldiers must fight. At that time, it was the residence of government and military leadership organs of Shan-Gan-Bian district, as well as the rear base of the Red 26th Army and the base camp of the Red Army. In its heyday, the base area extended to tens of thousands of square kilometers in 14 counties in two provinces of Shan-Gan.

The establishment of the Zhaoginsu Union, like a sharp knife into the heart of the enemy, dealt a severe blow to the arrogance of the Kuomintang, and also ignited the spark of the democratic revolution in the northwest region, laid the foundation for the establishment of the Northwest Revolutionary Base Area, accumulated experience, cultivated talents, and made a great contribution to the establishment of the Northwest Revolutionary Base Area, which became the only remaining revolutionary base area in the country at the late stage of the Revolutionary War, and provided the landing point of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Red Army of the main red army, and provided the starting point of the Eighth Route Army for the northward fight against the Japanese invasion, and wrote a glorious page in the history of the Chinese Revolution.
